Victorian participants made their presence felt across all five days of the 2026 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, with strong results for local vendors, sustained buying activity, and continued confidence in Victorian-based stallions.

Across Book 1, our eight Victorian vendors recorded solid clearance and depth, highlighted by a series of high-end results led by Yulong and Rosemont Stud. Multiple Victorian-vendored yearlings sold above the $500,000 mark, supported by healthy mid-range trade. Balius Farm celebrated a 100% clearance rate, as did Blue Gum Farm for their Book 2 entrants.

Victorian buyers were equally active across a range of vendors and price points, investing a total of $57.265 million across both Book 1 and Book 2. 155 of all horses sold are VOBIS eligible horses.

Victorian stallions delivered a strong collective performance, generating over $20 million in gross sales across both Books, and highlighting the depth, diversity and commercial appeal of Victorians stallions. Alabama Express led the Victorian table by gross, (14 sold for $3.925m gross), while Swettenham’s Toronado (IRE) ranked among the busiest sires (16 sold for $3.3m gross). Written Tycoon again demonstrated his strength at the elite end (6 sold for $2.655m), while first season sires shone a spotlight on Victoria’s emerging stallions.

Notably, these results were achieved against a challenging backdrop. In the week leading into the sale, several Victorian studs were directly affected by bushfires, yet still managed to present their drafts at the Gold Coast. The support shown by fellow Victorian breeders, trainers, and industry participants — many of whom gave their time and resources to assist — was a powerful reflection of the strength and resilience of the Victorian thoroughbred community. TBV extends its gratitude to everyone who rallied together during this difficult period.

Overall, the 2026 Magic Millions sale delivered a positive outcome for Victorian breeders and buyers alike, reaffirming our position as a key contributor to the Australian thoroughbred industry.
