Victoria on Show at Stallion Parades
Visitors turned out in strong numbers this month as the annual stallion parades showcased a mix of proven sires and exciting new additions ahead of the 2026 breeding season.
Breeders, bloodstock agents, trainers and industry representatives were warmly welcomed by Victorian studs - Blue Gum Farm, Darley Northwood, Lovatsville, Rosemont Stud, Swettenham Stud, Widden, Woodside Park, and Yulong - while Grassdale Pastoral’s new stallion Long Leaf was taken to the public, parading between races at Sale.
Yulong presented nine stallions, including first-season sire Vinrock, Growing Empire, First Settler and Japan shuttle sire Panthalassa. Darley’s parade offered its own mix of established and emerging talent, with Ghaiyyath, Paulele and Cylinder among those to impress visitors.
Lovatsville also attracted plenty of attention, particularly for its new addition Espionage and Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip.
Blue Gum Farm didn’t let a bit of rain stop them from putting on a great parade, showcasing their two new first-season sires Libertad and Coleman, making up the stud’s quartet alongside stalwarts Flying Artie and Oxley Road.
Seven Woodside Park stallions were on show, topped by the famous grey, Celestial Legend, and their latest arrival, Group 1 Meydan Dubai World Cup winner, Laurel River.
Widden Stud treated visitors to their exciting 2026 line-up, including Dirty Work, Doubtland and King Colorado. While the stallions provided a feast for the eyes, the giant pans of paella were certainly a feast for the taste buds!
At Swettenham Stud, newly-crowned Victorian Champion Sire, Toronado was joined by new international addition Diego Velazquez, who drew plenty of interest on his first Victorian parade.
Rosemont Stud’s parade day commenced with the early morning - and fitting - arrival of another first foal by resident sire Henry Longfellow. The crowd was treated to a showcase of their six-strong roster, including the 2025/26 Victorian Champion First Season Sire Extreme Warrior, G1 winner Schwarz and long-standing sire Shamus Award.
With new stallions joining established names, the Victorian parades once again highlighted the depth and variety available to breeders in this state this season.
