In a standout debut at Bendigo, two-year-old colt Leave No Doubt (out of Elusive Melody) delivered a commanding performance, securing his maiden victory for trainer Tony&Calvin McEvoy. The win was made even sweeter with over $50,000 in VOBIS bonuses won and the first winner for his Victorian-based sire, Doubtland.

Co-trainer Tony McEvoy was full of praise for Leave No Doubt’s performance. “It was a very good performance,” he remarked. “He didn’t quite show the gate speed we had expected. But Jarrod (Fry) got him into a beautiful rhythm and had a lovely run along. The leaders were wobbling around a little bit, a gap came, and he took it. To his credit, he showed a bit of true grit and darted through to win. A great debut to his career.”
Jockey Jarrod Fry echoed McEvoy's sentiments, noting the colt's professionalism for a first-time runner. “The horse was very professional,” Fry said. “We got into a beautiful spot. In the home straight, the runners in front of us were rolling around, and a run presented. Most young horses wouldn’t take the run that was there, but the colt was very well educated and professional, and he really savaged the line. I think there are better things in store for him.”
Leave No Doubt's performance was nothing short of remarkable, as he secured the victory by a neck, earning a substantial payout for his connections. In total, he collected $14,850 in prize money, along with additional rewards including $8,400 in VOBIS Silver bonuses and the VOBIS Gold 2YO Horse Owners Bonus of $14,000. Furthermore, he netted $30,000 in VOBIS Platinum vouchers, showcasing the significant benefits available to VOBIS-nominated runners.
Leave No Doubt's debut win not only highlights his potential on the track but also underscores the value of the VOBIS program for owners and breeders. As the racing season unfolds, all eyes will be on this promising colt as he continues his journey in the sport. “I think there are better things in store for him.” said Fry and we could not agree more.
