This month’s ‘In The Paddock With’ features Glenn Hunter, founder of Signature Pedigrees. Glenn provides pedigree analysis and bloodstock advice, helping breeders make informed decisions backed by research, experience and a deep understanding of bloodlines.

Let's get to know him a little better.

Q: Coffee or tea?

A: Coffee — strong and simple. Mornings in this industry don't need anything fancy.

Q: Pineapple on pizza: culinary crime or unfairly maligned?

A: Unfairly maligned. Balance matters — even in pizza.

Q: Country or city – where does your heart really belong?

A: Country. Space, quiet and horses — that's home.

Q: What's your go-to Saturday night meal?

A: Chinese. It's simple, comforting and always reliable.

Q: Fashion or form guide at the races?

A: Form guide. I'm there for the horses and the stories behind them.

Q: A perfect day off looks like...

A: A slow morning, a walk through the paddock and no phone for a few hours.

Q: What's the most valuable lesson the racing and breeding industry has taught you?

A: "Timing is everything. Bart Cummings always said that horses will tell you when they're ready — and the longer I'm in this industry, the more I realise that applies to life too.

"Progress isn't forced; it's prepared for."

Q: What's still on your bucket list?

A: Breeding a colt that becomes a genuine commercial standout — not just on paper, but in the ring and on the track.

Q: What's one industry opinion you'd respectfully push back on?

A: "That elite horses aren't accidents — they're the product of intentional, generational design.

Elite colts and fillies are bred differently and once you understand that, your whole approach changes."

Q: What made you smile today?

A: Watching one of our horses enjoy a quiet moment in the paddock.
