A strong edition of the 2025 Great Southern Weanling Sale concluded at Oaklands on Friday 13 June, wrapping up the most successful Inglis Breeding Stock Sales Series in history.

The Weanling Sale ended with a gross of $10,161,000 and clearance rate of 81%, with 27 foals realising $100,000 or more. The top lot, at $475,000, was Lemrac Lodge’s Ole Kirk x Rainy Daze filly (Lot 198).

In a wonderful twist for the breeders, Lemrac Lodge purchased Rainy Daze in foal to Ole Kirk for just $12,000 in last year’s Inglis Digital April (Late) Online Sale.

“Pinch me, I cannot believe it, I’m so grateful for this moment. We all know how hard it is to get and we did it. The little farm did it. You made a dream come true, we haven’t stopped crying,” Lemrac Lodge’s Megan Kirsopp-Cole said.

“I dared to dream, secretly I was hoping for over $300,000 but I’m blown away now, just blown away.’’

Rounding out the sale with an aggregate of $912,000, Three Bridges Thoroughreds topped the vendor list, followed by Stonehouse Thoroughbreds ($841,500) and Blue Gum Farm ($663,000).

Of the 327 catalogued lots, 26% were purchased by Victorian interests, while 18% were by NSW-based buyers. 40 weanlings were sold to New Zealand-based buyers purchased 40 weanlings, while eight are now owned by Hong Kong interests.

With an 81% clearance rate, and median price of $22,000, the Great Southern Weanling Sale was again supported by a the majority of Victorian breeding farms - right from the larger farms such as Gilgai, Rosemont, and Rushton Park, to the more boutique farms such as Bucklee Farm, Kelly Thoroughbreds and Yabby Dam Farms.

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch was buoyant from the results.

“We are very grateful to breeders and vendors for their support of our sales. We are hugely motivated to deliver the best results we can for as many people as we can,” Sebastian said.
