Darley has announced lightning-fast sprinter Kuroshio will join its Northwood Park roster in 2014.

Kuroshio (Exceed And Excel) won the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial on debut at Flemington in October 2012 and produced a gutsy effort sitting three-wide to claim the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield the following February.

Fellow Darley stallions Lonhro and Sepoy were also winners of the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude as were successful stallions Flying Spur, Danzero and Bel Esprit.

Kuroshio returned at three to win the G2 McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley defeating Group 1 sprinters Moment Of Change and Platelet.  He joined some of Australia’s best sprinters on the McEwen roll-call including Hay List, Miss Andretti and Buffering.

Kuroshio will stand for a fee of $8,800 (inc gst) at Sheikh Mohammed’s Victorian base at Seymour.

Champion Darley shuttler Exceed And Excel sired him from American-bred Gone West mare Arctic Drift.  She is also the dam of Believe’n’succeed who won a division of the 2008 Blue Diamond Prelude.

Believe’n’succeed is the dam of New Zealand Group 1 winning sprint filly Bounding.  It’s the family of top stallion Green Dancer.

“It will be a busy and exciting 2014,” Darley’s Head of Sales Alastair Pulford said.  “2013 was our best year yet and our stallions sired the winners of more Group 1 races than ever before.

“We very much look forward to welcoming breeders to Darley in the coming months to see our stallions and to discuss their mating plans.”
