Victoria’s best value stallion Squamosa, has recorded another brilliant winner for the season at Morphettville Parks when his second crop runner Yulong Monoceros was successful in her BM70 race for three-year-olds.
Ridden by Harry Coffey, the Moonee Valley winning juvenile last season, the three-year-old filly trained by Maher & Eustace was the stallion’s 10th individual winner for the season.
“She was able to take the small gap with a great turn of foot, utilising opening and pushing through to win the race. We won due to the professionalism she showed today, Ciaron and David presented her in great order and she was placed very well today in a winnable race, and it’s always great to get a winner for Yulong.” Coffey said.
Yulong Monoceros by Squamosa is out of the five-time winning cape cross mare I’m Taken and is the third named foal.
Cape Cross which comes through the Green Desert, Danzig line is another example of how well Squamosa has clicked with the Danzig line. Other impressive Squamosa progeny steaming back to Danzig include Order Of Command, Derasa & Ray’s Dream.
Squamosa’s flying filly Yulong Monoceros was an Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling graduate where in 2019, Squamosa will be represented with two quality yearlings. While at Magic Millions Tasmania 2019, Squamosa will be represented by seven outstanding lots.
Squamosa, an undefeated 2YO himself, has worked his way through another good book of mares this season at Sun Stud, where he has served well over 100 mares, giving the impressive looking stallion well over 300-plus m
ares his last three seasons.
With the average winning index for Squamosa currently sitting at $63,000, and his current service at $6,600, there is no doubt as to his brilliant value.
