Victorian sired horses dominated Sunday’s Donald Cup meeting with the first five winners on the card.
Winchelsea nursery Lemrac Lodge bred maiden winner Spinning Skirt, a daughter of former Darley Victoria sire Hard Spun, in Race 1. She was followed by Written Return (Written Tycoon), Liquido (Floral Pegasus), Maasai Justice (Court Of Jewels) and Porte Cochere (Bianconi).
Man-of-the-moment Darren Weir trained USA import Tonopah (Rock Hard Ten) to win the Donald Cup and he prepared Porte Cochere for her second win this this season.
The Bianconi mare broke her maiden at Cranbourne last month and she filled out a four-timer for the Ridgeview Park stallion on the weekend following Florida Pearl (Dunkeld), Good Conduct (Pt Lincoln) and It’s A Thrilla (Gold Coast).
Dunkeld’s Cup meeting on Saturday was another productive meeting for Victoria with Run Charlie Run (Danerich), Kilowatt (Reward For Effort), Mr Walker (Grey Swallow) and Florida Pearl (Bianconi).
Victorian bred gelding Diamond Duke doubled up in the Dunkeld Cup following his Mt Wycheproof Cup victory last month. The De Beers gelding is a homebred for Frank Belot who won 8 races with his dam Traditional Blues around the Wimmera.
