About the Victorian Breeding Academy

Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) have launched the Victorian Breeding Academy to provide formal pathways to the Victorian breeding industry.

Kicking off in March 2022, the Victorian Breeding Academy will offer trainees the opportunity to complete a Certificate IV in Agriculture with an equine breeding outcome.

The first course under the Victorian Breeding Academy banner is the nationally recognised one-year traineeship, which will see students work at a Victorian farm while learning invaluable skills.

TBV is seeking expressions from interested parties ahead of the March 2022 start date.

The Certificate IV is the first pathway for the Victorian breeding industry, and TBV has earmarked other pathways to sit under the Victorian Breeding Academy banner.

The traineeship will see students attend a farm only 30 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD for one-week blocks before going back to their farms across Victoria to put into practice what they have learned.
