Super VOBIS Yearlings At Sydney Easter Sale

Victorian vendors are out in force for the Inglis Easter yearling sale at Newmarket starting on Tuesday.

Despite rain sweeping the Newmarket sale grounds on Sunday, Victorian studs have been busy parading their lots in advance of Australia’s premier source of yearlings.

The level of interest in Victorian-bred Super VOBIS yearlings increases every year and this week’s auction includes consignments from Lauriston Thoroughbreds (7 lots), Supreme Thoroughbreds (6), Two Bays Farm (6), Eliza Park (5) and Three Bridges (5).

Milburn Creek is also acting as agent for 8 yearlings on behalf of Makybe headed by a High Chaparral colt from Melbourne Cup legend Makybe Diva.

Corinella based Lauriston Thoroughbreds starts the Victorian parade with a Street Cry — Gold Edition colt (Lot 28) on Tuesday.  Darley stallion Street Cry got him from Lauriston’s Group 1 winner Gold Edition who was Australia’s Champion 3YO Filly in 2006-07.

Lauriston Thoroughbreds operations manager James O’Brien has another five yearlings catalogued on Thursday by leading sires Starcraft, Encosta de Lago, Not A Single Doubt, Exceed And Excel & Snitzel.

Romsey nursery Supreme Thoroughbreds is also housed in Stable 2 at Newmarket.  “We’ve been solid parading since last Wednesday,” Supreme owner Brent Grayling said.  “There seems to be all the right people here, that’s for sure.”
