Promising sprinter Alcobro completed a rapid double for Ridgeview Park stallions in the Sportingbet Hcp (1100m) at Morphettville on Saturday.
Alcobro (3g Bianconi – Tendue by General Nediym) is unbeaten following prior wins at Mindarie-Halidon and Morphettville. He came from last to score in town on October 4 but assumed the role of pacemaker in a four-horse field when attempting a hat-trick.
“He’s still on the improve,” trainer Richard Jolly said. “Small fields can be a little tricky but with a clean run we thought he would go well.”
Alcobro is a younger brother to Jolly’s consistent sprinter-miler Alcohol. They are both by Bianconi (Danzig) who is currently covering his first book at Ridgeview Park.
The Muskerry East stud is also home to Golden Snake, another son of Danzig, who sired Accomplished for back-to-back wins in Singapore on Friday evening.
Accomplished (4g Golden Snake – Gold Patriot by Made Of Gold) was given a peach of a ride by apprentice Joseph See to double up by nearly two lengths at Kranji.
Trainer Sam Chua said the gelding is making headway with every run while still learning about the racing caper. He has now won 5 times in 13 starts for earnings the equivalent of AUD 217,480.
Chua bought Accomplished after winning the 2009 Committee’s Prize and 2010 Moonbeam Vase with his older brother Super Gold.
“That was probably one of his best wins as he was up against some very nice horses tonight,” Chua said. “But we knew there would be plenty of pace and Joe and I decided we would take a sit and let him come home.
“He’s a horse with a big heart and I hope he can become as good as Super Gold. I will probably give him a break now. He’s earned it.”
Accomplished was bred by Paul Kristoris and he has a 2yo colt and a yearling filly by Golden Snake.
Ridgeview Park studmaster Phil Sloane stands Golden Snake in association with LP Stallions manager Julie Nairn and his 2014 service fee is priced on application.
