Euroa based studmaster Damian Gleeson joined connections cheering home Samara Dancer in the G2 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Gleeson is prepping her yearling half-brother by Savabeel (Lot 149) as part of the draft for the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. The colt is also a younger full-brother to G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude winner Éclair Big Bang.
Samara Dancer (2f Hinchinbrook – Ennerdale by Singspiel) looked a genuine Blue Diamond contender after producing an explosive turn of foot to defeat Concealer (Nicconi) and Miss Nymeria (Stryker).
The unbeaten filly had won her only other start at Morphettville in November. “She’s shown us plenty at home but had to measure up to this lot,” trainer Philip Stokes said. “She’s definitely done that.
“We galloped her with Hucklebuck on Tuesday and she went with him so I thought that was good enough.”
Samara Dancer firmed into $8 with the TAB for the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes on February 27. She cost $130,000 as a yearlings and has won $145,000.
Phoenix Broodmare Farm has 21 yearlings entered for the Inglis Melbourne Premier and its Reward for Effort – Minnie Deal colt (Lot 193) received an international update last month. His older half-brother Ho Ho Feel (Henrythenavigator) was a $40,000 Phoenix graduate at the 2013 Inglis Ready to Race Sale and is a last-start winner at Happy Valley.
