GLOBETROTTER - 2010 FEE $8800
Chestnut 2005: Street Cry - Cool Slew (Seattle Slew)
Brackley Park

Brackley Park, Avenel welcomes to Victoria the exciting young stallion prospect Globetrotter.

Purchased outright by Damian White, the talented son of the in-form Street Cry will debut at a fee of $8800 and he is an outstanding addition to the local stallion ranks.

An eye-catching chestnut boasting an intelligent eye, a muscular frame, a strong sloping shoulder, laid back hocks, short cannons, good bone and plenty of scope, Globetrotter was an early maturing high class sprinter/miler – just the sort of stallion who succeeds in the tough Australian market.

“He is an imposing horse,” said White who has searched the globe for just the right stallion for Victoria. “He had plenty of grit and I believe he will be warmly received by local breeders.”

A Gr.3 winner at two and Gr.1 placed at three, Globetrotter was unplaced (a fourth) only once in six starts and he was a versatile and adaptable galloper who really knew how to find the line – winning three races from 1200m to 1800m.

A member of the flourishing Mr Prospector sire line via the great Machiavellian and the wildly successful Street Cry (last season Australia’s fourth most expensive stallion), Globetrotter owns a pedigree of considerable depth.

Bred on the outstanding Mr Prospector/Seattle Slew cross, Globetrotter hails from a prolific black type family – his dam a half sister to the stakes winners Snow Cone and Devotion Unbridled out of the stakes winning mare Icy Warning. His third dam Northern Sting was also a stakes winner and she produced eight winners from as many runners including the Gr.1 winner Ops Smile.

For further information phone Damian White on 0418 477 090 or go to www.damianwhitebloodstock.com.au to see footage of his race starts.

Next time out too strong for subsequent AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor at Rosehill, O’Lonhro, a member of the Hawkes stable as was his sire before him, enjoyed a break and was back bigger and stronger next time in.

Second to Swift Alliance at the start of his second campaign, he then took on the older horses in the Gr.2 Warwick Stakes, finishing a close second to Trusting with the Gr.1 winners Mr Baritone and Racing To Win third and fourth.

All the fitter, O’Lonhro then took on some smart ones in the Gr.2 Chelmsford Stakes – winning that 1600m event in comprehensive style. How apt he win that race – his sire also successful in it winning in 2002 and 2003.

Standing at 16.2hh, O’Lonhro is very much like his sire, muscular and strong with a commanding presence. And he has depth to his dam line as well, being a son of the high class racemare Mamzelle Pedrille.

SHIMONHRO - 2010 FEE $3,850
Bay or Brown 2005: Lonhro - Shingle Moss (Twig Moss)
Bombora Downs

Bombora Downs, Victoria is proud to announce a new addition to its stallion roster for 2010 – Lonhro’s handsome son Shimonhro.

A particularly good looking dark brown, near black stallion built very much in the mould of his popular sire, Shimonhro at 16.2hh is bound to impress upon inspection and the stud’s Christoph Bruechert is excited.

“He is a stallion of excellent conformation and a fantastic temperament,” he enthused – “he is a joy to handle.”

Such a good looker is Shimonhro that on the two occasions he made his way through the sales ring he was in great demand – as an Inglis Select Sale weanling fetching $150,000 and as an Easter yearling $400,000.

Sent to respected Wyong trainer Kim Waugh, Shimonhro sadly did not make it to the track but he certainly showed plenty of talent.

“Shimonhro has an outstanding temperament and a fantastic galloping action,” Waugh said – “he ran times that only horses of the highest class can run and I was confident that he was of Group One standard.”

Managing owner Robert Roulston agreed. “He ran the sorts of times over 200m and 400m that only high quality horses can run.”

“I have raced Group One winners and bought Group One winners for clients and Shimonhro was at least the equal in every way of those horses.”

“It is  a great disappointment that he could not make it to the race track as we really felt he had the potential to be a Group One star.”

WANTED - 2010 $38,500
Bay 2006: Fastnet Rock - Fragmentation by Snippets

Eliza Park

The nation’s premier sprinter, WANTED, has been retired to stand at Eliza Park in Victoria.

Arguably the hottest property heading to stud this spring, Wanted’s future has been the subject of industry conjecture since he – literally – stormed home to victory in the $1,005,000 Group One VRC Newmarket Handicap at Flemington in early March.

Outpacing both the fastest horses in Australasia AND the worst hailstorm to hit Melbourne in living memory, Wanted secured his hooftnote in history with a powerhouse performance.

(Interestingly, among Newmarket winners, leading sires Century, General Nediym and Exceed And Excel also took out the race as three year olds).

Hailing from the first crop of Danehill’s boom stallion Fastnet Rock, Wanted was – at $800,000 – his sire’s most expensive yearling. As one industry pundit declared recently: “Wanted has phenomenal good looks”.

Wanted also boasts a highly commercial pedigree with half brother, Shrapnel, a two year old stakes winner this season, while their dam, Fragmentation, is a stakes winning Snippets mare.

Trained by Peter Moody, Wanted would race on 15 occasions – 14 of those starts in black type company.
Indeed, in the three lead ups to the Newmarket – all at Group One level – Wanted would finish a head, a head and a half length shy of the winner.

Moody has always maintained a high opinion of Wanted and pulled no punches immediately after the Newmarket, stating: “on today’s performance, there is probably no better sprinter in the land”.

That’s an opinion shared – in part at least – with industry bible Timeform, which has ranked Wanted (along with dual Group One winner Starspangledbanner) the leading three year old in Australia.

While it’s been well documented that Wanted is a ‘rig’ and there were initial issues in regards to obtaining fertility insurance, Eliza Park aggressively chased the horse following the opinion of two of the world’s leading reproductive veterinary surgeons in Dr Angus McKinnon and Dr Geoff Hazard.

A delighted Eliza Park CEO, Cameron Croucher, announced the acquisition last night after striking a deal with Wanted’s managing owner, Eddie Hayson, who will continue to support the stallion with top line mares.

“This is a tremendous coup for both Eliza Park and the Victorian breeding industry,” Croucher enthused.
Wanted will be limited to a book of 80 mares in his first season and will stand at an introductory fee of $38,500 inc. GST.

MURPHY'S BLU BOY - 2010 FEE $5500

Bay 2000 15.3hh Blu Tsunami - Murphy's Arch (Archregent)

Relocated to Bullarook Park Stud

Outstanding speedster Murphy’s Blu Boy has a new home – the handsome stallion two weeks ago arriving at picturesque Bullarook Park Stud at Avenel in northern Victoria.

Settling in nicely, the powerful bay has pleased Bullarook’s Malcolm Boyd who has been chasing the horse for some time.

“I have always liked him,” he said, “and I am very happy to be standing him. He has his foot right on the till with his progeny really starting to show something and he is an impressive horse in his own right.”

Describing the nine-year-old as a horse with “lovely conformation,” Boyd said that he “is a very, very strong stallion and extremely athletic.”

Already the sire of six winners from limited opportunities, Murphy’s Blu Boy has been represented by some promising types including the Rick Hore-Lacy trained Valentine Blues.

Back in work after showing plenty of natural ability during her first campaign over the summer, Valentine Blues bolted in at her Ballarat debut. Quickly measuring up in stronger company, she was an easy second up winner at Sandown and Boyd is looking forward to seeing her back in action.

“She is one of several smart ones that Murphy’s Blu Boy has coming through,” he said – pointing out that the likes of Paddy Me Lad (winner of his last three), Bluzar (city placed last start winner) and Miss Chatter (recent 3.3 length maiden winner at Geelong) look to be above average.

A horse blessed with great natural pace, Murphy’s Blu Boy burst onto the scene in late 2002, winning his Ipswich debut by no less than 6½ lengths.

At his next two at the Gold Coast he outsped his rivals to win by six lengths and 5½ lengths respectivelly and he then headed to Melbourne where he blitzed a Gr.3 Blue Diamond Preview field – racing away to a seven length victory.

Injured when second in a Gr.3 Blue Diamond Prelude, Murphy’s Blu Boy added another win to his resume at three – taking out the Lightning Handicap at Gosford. He retired to stud in 2005 as the winner of five of his 11 starts from 800m to 1000m – pure speed.

A member of the Mr Prospector sire line, Murphy’s Blu Boy is a grandson of Afleet (Gr.1 winning sire of 61 stakes winners) and son of Blu Tusmani (Gr.2 winner from the family of Blushing Groom and Mill Reef).

His dam is the fast six times winning Archregent (dam sire of 14 stakes winners including Takeover Target) mare Murphy’s Arch, half sister to the dual Gr.2 winning filly I Am A Ripper and to the dams of the recent black type performers My Girl Helen and Nothin’ Leica Cat.

For further information on Murphy’s Blu Boy contact Malcolm Boyd on 0407 342 291.
