REWARD FOR EFFORT- 2011 FEE $11,000
Bay 2006 Exceed and Excel - Miss Prospect (Rory's Jester)
Chatswood Stud
Chatswood Stud is proud to announce that MRC Blue Diamond Stakes Winner REWARD FOR EFFORT will commence his stud career at our Seymour property this coming season.
The magnificent looking stallion arrived at Chatswood and has already settled in well to his new surrounds.
Chatswood appreciates the opportunity to stand this exciting son of Exceed And Excel and the faith placed in Chatswood by Dean Watt Bloodstock, Dynamic Syndications and the current syndicate of owners.
REWARD FOR EFFORT won the Caulfield Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr1), Rosehill Concorde Stakes (Gr3), Caulfield Blue Diamond Preview (L) and the Caulfield Sir Monash Stakes (L), for trainer Peter Moody from only 10 starts.
REWARD FOR EFFORT is from the multiple Stakes winning Rory’s Jester mare MISS PROSPECT who is also the dam of million dollar winner CONSULAR.
The Blue Diamond Stakes has proven to be an amazing stallion producer with Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, and Black Caviar’s sire in Bel Esprit being among notable examples.

HOLLYLODGE SECURE WIDDEN VALLEY
By Anabaa – Group 1 winning sire of 81 SWs (13 G1) from Rose Archway a champion Group 1 filly winner of the Australian Oaks (G1), MRC Angus Armanasco S. (G2) MRC Naturalism S. (L) 2nd Storm Queen S. (G1) etc.
Hollylodge is proud to stand this sensational value First Season sire in 2011 at only $3,300.00 FR.
A $900,000 yearling, Widden Valley only had 5 race starts before succumbing to a joint injury, which cut his career short.
A winner of 2 races at Wyong over 1350 m, his maiden win was in class record time by 1.5 seconds and just outside a 20 year course record.
He ran a slashing race when 3rd in the $772,000 INGLIS GUINEAS at Scone, which was the 5th most valuable race in NSW last season.
Trained by Chris Waller he was being set for the Villiers when he was retired.
A perfect stallion specimen with temperament, personality, conformation, pedigree and ability - Widden Valley has what it takes to make it as a sire. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KING STAND SPRINT STAR HEADS TO SWETTENHAM
Adam Sangster's Swettenham Stud has announced that multiple Group 1 winning French bred 6yo stallion Equiano (Acclamation-Entente Cordiale, by Ela-mana-mou) will be standing at his Nagambie farm in 2011.
Equiano will stand at an "early bird" fee of $15,000 & subsequently at $16,500.
Equiano (who stood his 1st season at England's Hetrfordshire-based Newsells Park Stud this year) won the 2008 UK Gr1 King's Stand Stakes (5 furlongs) at Royal Ascot (as a 3YO against older horses, with Australia's Takeover Target runner-up) & won the same Gr1 King's Stand Stakes again in 2010 (with Australia's Nicconi 4th), before finishing runner-up by a neck behind Australian-bred Starspangledbanner in 2010's UK Gr1 July Cup (6 furlongs) at Newmarket.
Overall Equiano recorded 7 wins (also including 2010's Gr3 Palace House Stakes over 5 furlongs at Newmarket & Listed Abernant Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket) & 8 placings (also including 2010's Gr2 Temple Stakes over 5 furlongs at Haydock, plus 2009's Listed Abernant Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, 2008's French Gr2 Prix du Gros-Chene over 1000m at Chantilly & 2007's French Gr2 Criterium De Maisons-Laffitte over 1200m) from 27 starts for £571,273 (A$885,000) earnings.
Sangster enthused: "Equiano has the physical type & the sprinting blood to excite any breeder & the partners in Europe at Newsells Park have made a commitment to support this stallion with mares in his initial 4 seasons. My pedigree analyst has already chosen a large number of our mares here for the same purpose, making it an easy decision to stand Equiano."

BULLAROOK'S STRATEGIC MOVE
The racetrack’s loss may be the breeder’s gain with the announcement of the retirement of the gifted Strategic Maneuver to Bullarook Stud, Avenel.
A highly talented but sadly lightly raced member of the Gai Waterhouse team, Strategic Maneuver set tongues wagging after easily winning two Sydney trials in the autumn of 2008.
Subsequently sent out a hot odds-on favourite at his Randwick debut, the good looking chestnut could not have been more impressive – showing good natural pace before racing away to a soft 2.8 length victory.
In the words of the well respected form analysts at Best Bets – “he kidded with them.”
So well regarded by Waterhouse that a Queensland winter and/or Sydney spring campaign was planned, Strategic Maneuver looked set for stardom only to develop the painful condition of quartercracks in his front feet.
Seen only at the trials that spring Strategic Maneuver recorded a six length win over 1050m at Randwick but unfortunately did not make it to the track.
It would be two years until he was seen again – connections so confident of his natural talent that they kept persevering through his hoof problems – and again he created a fine impression at the trials.
Two Randwick hit-outs last summer – two facile victories in fast times.
“Strategic Maneuver is very exciting,” Waterhouse enthused at the time, “his trials have been nothing short of brilliant.”
“He is a stakes-horse in the making – I have no doubts about that.”
Back to the track in early February, Strategic Maneuver – who Waterhouse described as “big, strong and one of the nicest looking horses in the yard” was sent out a $1.50 favourite at Canterbury but, after showing good speed, he tired to finish sixth and was retired having broken his pedal bone.
A definite case of what might have been with Waterhouse high in her praise…
“Strategic Maneuver was the fastest colt I trained since Dance Hero and Sebring,” she said. “He possessed a wonderful cruising speed and scintillating acceleration.”
“He will be well priced and affordable to the public. I look forward to training his progeny.”
Which is likely with Gooree, their manager and vet all retaining shares in the five-year-old.
Like popular Victorian stallion Bel Esprit – sire of superstar Black Caviar – Strategic Maneuver is a son of the European Champion 3Y0 Miler Royal Academy.
Considered by many experts a perfect thoroughbred specimen, the now retired son of the legendary Nijinsky II was one of the great shuttle success stories.
Maintaining a very high winners-to-runners strike rate of over 69% throughout his lengthy stud career, the Breeders’ Cup Mile & July Cup winner has been represented by 156 individual stakes winners.
Twenty of those gallopers have been successful at Gr.1 level and his progeny have amassed in excess of $140 million winning races in 25 countries.
Which makes Royal Academy a truly great international influence.

TWO NEW BOYS FOR ELIZA PARK
Eliza Park has announced its service fees for 2011 including two new stallions, Kentucky Derby (Gr 1, 10f) winner Super Saver (Maria’s Mon) and Dissolved a stakeswinning son of Lonhro.
Super Saver, whose partners include US-based SF Bloodstock and Winstar Farm, set a new stakes record in taking out the 83rd Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (Gr 2, 9f) by five lengths as a juvenile before defeating 11 Grade 1 winners in the 136th edition of the Kentucky Derby (Gr 1, 10f).
“Eliza Park is delighted to be given the opportunity to stand such a good looking and talented racehorse as Super Saver,” Eliza Park CEO Cameron Croucher said in a statement. “He is represented by a wonderful pedigree. We made a conscious decision to seek an outcross for the coming season and are thrilled to be entrusted with Super Saver on behalf of his owners and the famed Winstar Farm.”
Elliot Walden, the CEO of Winstar Farm, is equally delighted about his stud’s foray into the Australian market: “We’ve got every confidence in Super Saver and are very excited about our first venture in Australia. He’s certainly the right horse!”
Super Saver will stand at a fee of $16,500 inc. GST and joins fellow Kentucky Derby winners Street Sense ($38,500) and Big Brown ($27,500) standing in Australia this year.
Eliza Park’s other new addition is the former John Hawkes-trained, Dissolved, who was sold for $300,000 as a yearling – the highest priced Lonhro of his year.
“He (Dissolved) is the dead spitting image of his sire,” Hawkes points out. “And he showed abundant speed and tremendous potential.
“He’s a real bull though and, rather than racing him on, it was decided to retire him to Eliza Park … particularly given his terrific conformation and family full of stakes winners.”
Only lightly raced, but retiring sound, Dissolved won the Moomba Plate (Listed, 1200m) down the straight at Flemington: his third win from five starts and toppling highly rated stakes winners Rarefied, Avenue and Common Interest (More Than Ready) in the process.

RED ARROW- 2011 FEE $6,600
Bay 2003 Red Ransom - Lady Jakeo (Last Tycoon)
Blue Gum Farm
Victoria's Blue Gum Farm has secured an interest in the magnificently bred and well performed Red Arrow to join its stallion roster this season.
Red Arrow truly does have a wonderful pedigree. He is by the ultra successful sire and sire of sires Red Ransom, from the multiple Group One winner Lady Jakeo by Last Tycoon.
Red Ransom is seen as the perfect outcross for Australia's Northern Dancer saturated broodmare band. The results speak for themselves with the performances of Typhoon Tracy, Onemorenomore, Duporth, All American, Red Dazzler, Romneya, etc. Of particular interest is the fact that Red Arrow is bred on exactly the same Red Ransom - Last Tycoon cross as Typhoon Tracy and Onemorenomore. Red Ransom's sire sons in Australia include the Group one producers Charge Forward and Domesday.
Red Arrow's dam, Lady Jakeo, won the Blue Diamond Stakes and trained on to win the Australia Stakes, both at Group One level. This is a female family littered with top Two Year Olds, including Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond performers, and leading sprinters. With the influence of leading Australian broodmare sires Last Tycoon, Lunchtime, Sostenuto and Pipe Of Peace working in this pedigree, it is easy to understand where the success comes from.
Blue Gum Farm's Philip Campbell is delighted to have Red Arrow joining their stallion roster. "Red Arrow is a fine looking stallion with size, strength, length and plenty of bone about him. I can see him producing a very pleasing physical style of horse and if he also passes on his own amazing temperament, he will be a long way down the path to success. He has a pedigree that excites and was able to show the sort of racetrack ability that the pedigree suggests he would have. We are very excited to have him joining us."

KEANO - 2011 FEE $8,800
Bay 2005 Pins - O'Really (Centaine)
Salamander Park
Anderson – Salamander Park are pleased to announce that KEANO will be standing at our new farm in Merton, Victoria for the 2011 season.
Merton is only 30 kms from Euroa and 75kms from Seymour, so is centrally located within the Victorian breeding region.

Courtza is KEANO’s grandam and was the last winner of both the Group 1 Blue Diamond and Group 1 Golden Slipper prior to Sepoy this year.
As a Black Type winning son of Pins out of a half sister to O’Reilly, KEANO provides Australian broodmare owners the bloodlines of the very best New Zealand Stallions right here in Australia. Given that O’Reilly will stand the 2011 season at a fee of NZ$50,000 and Pins at a fee of NZ$40,000 exceptional value can be obtained by breeding to KEANO in 2011.
KEANO was a very good racehorse winning 6 times from 1000m (57.26s at Flemington) to 1400m with his most recent win on Emirates Stakes Day at Flemington over 1400m during the last day of the 2010 spring carnival.
KEANO was a $450,000 yearling sold at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale purchased and trained by Danny O’Brien.
With both Ambitious Dragon winning the 2011 Hong Kong Derby (a son of Pins) and Shamrocker winning the 2011 AJC Australian Derby (a daughter of O’Reilly) you don’t have to go far to look at the potential that KEANO can offer to both speed and staying mares.
KEANO will match very nicely to Danehill and Danzig line mares and in particular to any Northern Dancer line mare as KEANO has only one strain of Northern Dancer within his pedigree.
KEANO will stand for $8,800 including GST offering a transferable free return (conditions apply).
