Miranda Park delighted with their Adelaide draft

Miranda Park, this year will be taking their first draft of yearlings to Adelaide. Gary O’Meara of Miranda Park has been watching the sale closely after the past few years and has been impressed with the results being achieved predominantly with the colts. This year Miranda Park’s draft will include six colts and one filly.

‘I have been watching the market over the last couple of years and the Adelaide sale has been gaining momentum. Colts in particular have been selling very well. Last year’s buyers found it difficult to buy a colt as the market was so competitive. ‘

Miranda Park will be heading to Adelaide with confidence after a successful sale at the Melbourne Premier with their top lot achieving $70,000 for a Press Statement filly.

‘I thought the Melbourne sale was particularly strong, the top end of the market made excellent money and very good prices were achieved through the middle ranges. It was a really good solid sale.’

Miranda Park will be starting the sale off with Lot 1, the attractive Starcraft colt. ‘I think he will appeal to trade buys and will suit the Asian market. Through inspections he has been gaining attention from the Hong Kong market.’

Rich Enuff will have a strong presence in the Miranda Park draft with three colts by this sire entered in the sale. ‘They are all very big strong athletic colts. Of those the Canyonville colt (Lot 236) is a robust colt with great strength and depth and I believe he will be popular. In addition, the Saffron Sunset colt (Lot 70) is a strong colt with great movement and a good length of rein.’

Lot 236 of Miranda Park’s draft is a colt by Victorian stallion Rich Enuff

Fiorente, another Victorian sire will be going around the ring for Miranda Park as Lot 371. ‘He is quite typical of what the sire produces. He is a very athletic colt, well balanced with very good angles. He will attract buyers looking for a classic type horse.’

Lot 371 a son of Fiorente will head through the ring at Adelaide for Miranda ParkA new stallion to Victorian soil is Al Maher and Miranda Park has one of his exciting colts out of Theophania included in their draft as Lot 139. ‘He is a very robust colt who has great muscle development, very athletic and is a beautiful moving horse.’

There is one filly in the draft for Miranda Park, lot 438 Sooboog out of Truly Kissed. ‘She is a very attractive filly, feminine but very strong. She has a lovely movement and is a well-balanced filly.

Gary is very pleased with the draft that he is sending to Adelaide ‘They have all prepped up very well and are looking a treat.’
