Gai Waterhouse is beginning to marshal her big team of two year-olds for the autumn carnival and the latest to emerge is brilliant Victorian bred filly Global Glamour.

Bred at Corinella in West Gippsland by Lauriston Thoroughbreds, the debutante was sent to Kembla Grange on Saturday and made short work of the ITC Corporate Members Maiden (1000m). Taken straight to the front by jockey Paul King, she exploded in the straight to score by more than six lengths from Godolphin filly Silent Sea.

James O’Brien from Lauriston Thoroughbreds (also TBV President) was overjoyed with the dominant victory.

“The team at Lauriston is rapt that our first ever horse with Gai Waterhouse, Global Glamour, has won on debut and by such a convincing margin.”

Global Glamour is raced by an all-ladies in a syndicate called ‘It’s All About The Girls’ after being purchased by renowned bloodstock agent James Bester for $65,000 from Lauriston Thoroughbreds at the 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions January Sale.

“Brilliant Star Witness filly Global Glamour blitzed rivals and is on a similar path to Golden Slipper runner-up English who ran 2nd to Vancouver (in the Golden Slipper) last year.

“Exciting 2yo Star Witness filly, Global Glamour along with 40 high profile women are having the ride of their lives and are hoping the Slipper will fit!”

Betting agencies agree with Tab.com.au shortening Global Glamour in their Golden Slipper market to $26 after her runaway victory.

The filly is by Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Star Witness and is a homebred for Lauriston’s O’Brien family from their Moonee Valley juvenile winner Spectacula (Testa Rossa).

The dam has a foal by Darley Victoria’s Reset and returned to Darley to be covered Street Boss in 2015.

Lauriston Thoroughbreds has hit a purple patch through all of January with no less than 12 horses they bred chalking up victories around Australia and overseas..

This has included the stakes win for Tudor at Flemington, city wins for The Seductress and Alcobro and a win in Singapore for Blue Diamond. The Ciaron Maher trained, Lauriston bred Emphatically also ran a second in last week’s Blue Diamond Fillies Preview. Interestingly, the same weekend the farm had a 2yo winner in Global Glamour, they had a 9yo winner in Canna at the Geelong races – these horses covering a large range of the time the farm has been in full operation at Corinella.

Lauriston Thoroughbreds has 9 yearlings entered for the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale starting with the colt by Champion Victorian stallion Bel Esprit (Lot 324) and also including a So You Think half-brother to Adelaide stakes performers Alcobro and Alcohol (Lot 391).
