Boldacious Girl has continued a dream ride for her owner-strapper Carrina Riggs in the Harcourts Vennmillar Hcp (1100m) at Morphettville.

The God’s Own mare prevailed by a length after setting the pace – it was her second in town this season. She won a Balaklava maiden as a late-season three year-old and doubled up in Murray Bridge sprints at four.

Riggs was overwhelmed after Boldacious Girl broke through at Morphettville in August and was only marginally more composed when the John Hickmott trained mare returned to scale on Friday.

“It means a lot to Carrina – she works for me and paid the money for Boldacious Girl out of her own pocket,” Hickmott said. “I’m really happy for her and the mare is worth a bit now.”

Greta West Stud resident God’s Own sired the winner from NZ bred mare Love To Dance (Citidancer) who was Group 1 placed in the Ellerslie and Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes. She has also foaled LR Gold Sovereign Stakes winner Ehor and Sydney black-type soldier Party Crasher

“The God’s Owns are lovely, big horses,” Hickmott revealed. “We’ve got three but you can’t rush them.”

The trio includes Morphettville winner Rod’s Opinion and Hickmott races him in partnership with Nola How and Rod Blackwell from the Yorke Peninsula.
