Dr Vandi delivered the first win for recently deceased Ridgeview Park stallion Dr Doute’s at Dubbo on Sunday.

Trained locally by Clint Lundholm, he scored by over a length in the Specsavers Maiden Hcp (1125m) at the third time of asking. The gelding had been in the wars during his previous start at Gilgandra when he blundered and raced erratically. Then, to cap off a bad day, he was disqualified when jockey Mathew Cahill weighed in light!

Dr Vandi was bred and sold by Ridgeview Park from its Mossman mare Wrapped In Wool. She has a 2yo Dr Doute’s filly with trainer Dennis O’Leary in South Australia, a yearling colt by Dr Doute’s and a colt on the ground by Bianconi.

Ridgeview Park owners Phil and Fiona Sloane lost Dr Doute’s when he succumbed to a colic attack on New Year’s Day.

The son of Redoute’s Choice was unbeaten at two and won the G3 VRC Carbine Club Stakes and LR City of Adelaide Stakes as a three year-old.

Good on ya Doc. My ‘Gem’ (Round Mountain Gem out of a Langfurh mare) can’t be his first winner, but hopefully shwe will cover herself in glory when she steps out for for the first time in a few weeks, probably at Grafton.
