It is hard to believe it has been three weeks since I first wrote to you to update you on the situation with COVID-19.
It is great to see that racing has continued since the first update and I must congratulate Racing Victoria and the Government for ensuring that the racing industry has not stopped.
Yesterday, the Premier of Victoria has given his blessing for racing to continue in our State. Daniel Andrews has recognised the strict protocols and measures that have been put in place to protect the industry.
Since my first update the TBV Board has met twice a week to discuss the evolving situation and potential impacts of COVID-19 on the Victorian breeding industry.
On Friday we hosted our first ever, ‘The Vic Breeding Bite’. This was a virtual meeting for TBV members to hear updates from James, the Board and I but also an opportunity for members to raise any concerns about the current situation.
We are going to host our next virtual meeting for TBV members this Thursday and TBV members will receive an invite to register by Wednesday.
Last week, TBA’s Tom Reilly and TBV’s Adam Tims of Stable Financial released a podcast on the government stimulus package that you are entitled to in order to support your farm in this current climate. If you haven’t had the chance to listen to it yet, it is differently worth it and you can listen to it here.
If you haven’t completed TBA’s survey yet seeking your opinion on how COVID-19 is affecting your business, I would really appreciate if you could take the time to do it. It will help when lobbying Governments to get support for your business. You can fill the survey in here.
Finally, while many of us cannot be with our families this Easter, it is important to check in on those in your circle and see how they are doing. While we may be apart, technology has allowed us to remain together. Pick up the phone and say hello to someone and see how they are doing. It goes along way.
Stay safe and I hope you have a lovely Easter.
