Victoria’s Bombora Downs has been given a boost with news its new sire, the Group 1 winning Warhorse, getting the thumbs up for his first pregnancy tests.
Bombora Downs Principle Christoph Bruechert said he is been delighted with the response to his new stallion.
“It’s hardly surprising, a multiple Group winning Champion two year old from a great family is bound to generate good interest.”
Warhorse’s first two mares to be tested both provided positive pregnancy tests in recent days.
“I was pretty confident but it’s always a relief to see those first few positive tests” Bruechert said.
“The horse is working like a champ as well!”
The immediate family of Warhorse received a positive addition on Monday with the sire’s half sister, Dulverton (by Commands), winning easily at Hamilton.
Trained by Robert Smerdon at Caulfield and bought at the 2014 Inglis Easter Sale by Qatar Racing for $180,000, the filly is highly rated and has an entry for the VRC Oaks.
Bombora Downs has very high expectations for the son of General Nediym and it seems many broodmare owners share this belief.
Warhorse has attracted mares from as far away as Queensland, no real surprise given the popularity of his sire, General Nediym, in the Sunshine State.
Warhorse stands for a fee of $7,700 (GST incl.) at Bombora Downs on the Mornington Peninsula.
