GOLDEN SNAKE ADDS NEW STAKES WINNER

Lynn Tipper landed her biggest win of her seven-year training career when Vipera Gold won the Listed Nudgee Handicap at Doomben on Saturday.

Vipera Gold ($15) gave bookmakers a dream result with her win in the 1200m feature.

The five-year-old daughter of Golden Snake powered through the heavy going and rain to down Whateverwhenever ($7.50) by a short head with Just Destiny a further three-quarters of a length away third.

Ridden by Chris Munce, Vipera Gold looked to be struggling in the second half of the field before angling out to swoop on the leaders in the straight.

"She did a good job but the race panned out well for her," Munce said.

"We were a fair way back in the second half of the field early on but we managed to get out around the 600 metres and worked our way through the field."

Tipper has a team of six horses in work at Bridgeman Downs, on Brisbane's north side.

The black-type victory will prove a major boost to Vipera Gold's stud value when Tipper eventually retires her.

"It's great to win as we bred her. It's a Listed race so it's the biggest win of my career."

Considered somewhat an underated sire , Golden Snake has had to do the job the hard way , yet from limited books this stallion has the ability to sire a good horse with Group One Winners in both hemispheres.

Golden Snake is such a consistent stallion when you look at his winners to runners tally in Australia which stands at a very healthy 57% , with his progeny winning on all types of surfaces over distances from 1100m up to 2 miles.
