GOLDEN SNAKES STAKES GRAB IN SINGAPORE

Consistent stallion Golden Snake looks to have another good one in the shape of Super Gold, a talented Singapore based three-year-old who has made the progression to stakes class.

Third at his Kranji debut last December, Super Gold was given a bit of time – reappearing in early February and winning three in a row over 1200m.

Since then racing against the best of his age group, Super Gold has proven a tough and reliable performer and in ten starts he has not been out of the first four.

Fourth at Gr.3 level on June 6, Super Gold went even closer in the Gr.2 Singapore Challenge last Friday – putting on display his natural pace and fighting on strongly for a gallant third at his first attempt at 1400m.

A lead-up to the Challenge Final on July 17 – a contest in which Super Gold looks very well suited by a step up to 1600m – this race should prove an excellent form race, being won by the classy Given Vision (four wins from five starts) with the extra smart Powerful Ruler (a horse who has been chasing home Rocket Man) second.

The first winner for the Made Of Gold mare Gold Patriot, Super Gold was bred in South Australia by Jim O’Connor.

Julie Nairn, manager of the Golden Snake syndicate, is excited about Super Gold’s prospects in the Singapore Final – “as we all know with the Golden Snake progeny, the more ground they cover the better they get… he will certainly prove hard to beat over a mile.”

Super Gold is one of four black type performers for Golden Snake this season – the much missed Gilded Venom winning five of his eight 2008/09 starts including the Railway Stakes-Gr.1, the C.B Cox Stakes-Gr.2 and the Asian Beau Stakes-Gr.3.

Exciting staying prospect Hissing Sid – whose spring campaign will be aimed at the big Cups – won three of his seven current season contests including the Listed Warrnambool Cup by a soft 1.5 lengths.

Meanwhile the lightly raced European filly Quiza Quiza Quiza won her first two before an Italian Oaks-Gr.2 third.

And there have been plenty of other winners for Golden Snake – just this month Gol, Slither, Golden Papillon, Adder Boy, Rio de Oro, Shaolin Do and Queimada Grande.

Golden Snake’s 2009 book is progressing well, Nairn thrilled that breeders are recognising his ability to pass on talent, toughness, soundness and durability – traits the four times Gr.1 possessed in spades.

Super Gold's dam Gold Patriot is one nice mare already booked in to visit Golden Snake – another being Domitrix, dam of Hissing Sid.

Golden Snake stands the 2009 season at $5,500 with a new “flexi” free return on offer. For further details visit www.lyndenparkstallions.com.au or contact Christoph Bruechert (0419 534 961 or 03 59836802 - horses@bomboradowns.com) or Julie Nairn (0402 901 910 - julie.nairn@optusnet.com.au).
